Gold Digger Mini-Series, 1992 to 1993, 4 issues

ISSUE #1 - 32 pgs - Starting out in an aerial dog-fight over the jungles of Peru, Gina is talking with her pilot-for-hire friend, Ace before she is snatched away by Cheetah to jump out of the still-moving helicopter without even a parachute. After landing safely (thanks to the help of super-human strength and speed) Gina plans to use the Gem of Returning to search for the Lost Temple of Gold. A brief interlude reveals Penny Pinser, Gina's main rival, was behind the attack on Ace's Blackhawk. Fading back to Cheetah and Gina, we see Cheetah fighting with a furry fellow who introduces himself by the name of Stripe after Gina convinces her sister to try reasoning with him. Cheetah reveals her origin again while Gina also explains some of her past. Featured in both flashbacks are cameo's of Gina's father, Dr. Diggers. Following Stripe to his home, Gina discovers that it's an entire city built of gold, but she doesn't have much time to drool before the trio is attacked by the magically enslaved inhabitants of the city. The villian behind it all is an Atlantian named Gyphon. Stripe and Cheetah are captured but Gina manages to escape only through the lucky use of the Gem of Returning to transform her capture back to normal. While recovering, Penny gets the drop on her and scores a point in their on-going wedgie war. Teaming up together to rescue the others, they're too late to keep Cheetah from being turned to a stone automoton that nearly kills Gina. Gyphon makes his escape, taking all the magic artifacts belong to Stripe's people with him.

ISSUE #2 - 32 pgs - The trip to Atlantis begins with Gina and Cheetah waiting on Penny's Hover-carrier. Cheetah is anxiously awaiting the return of Stripe so she can show him her human form while Gina busies herself in modifing her car into a submersable vehicle. As soon as Penny arrives with the rest of the expedition (Stripe, Ace, Mesha, and Tark) a namecalling and insulting match begins between Gina and Penny. Tark explains how he and Mesha met Gina to Stripe and Ace which also serves as a recap for those who hadn't read the Mangazine stories. Mesha agrees to accompany Gina in her car while everyone else boards Penny's mini-sub. Gina leads the way off the hover-carrier but before Ace can launch the mini-sub into the water, the sub is attacked by a group of planes piloted by the mercenary Dark Bird and her minions. It seems Ace ruined a 6 million dollar mission of theirs and they aim to collect it out of his hide. The battle continues underwater and both Gina's car and Penny's sub are damaged. Gina's car sinks out of control to be swallowed by a trap set by Gyphon. Luckily Gina and Mesha are both rescued and healed by Princess Tyr and her servants: Garen and Tanis. Good luck turns to bad when Tyr's third servent, Dyrrana, reveals herself to be a spy for Gyphon and tries to take the Gem of Returning from Tyr. While all this is going on, Ace and company are battling a giant squid that causes enough damage to the sub for Gyphon to attack directly and capture them all. Gina's group is successful in defeating Dyrrana and while Tyr explains her plan to beat Gyphon and rescue everyone, Gina is busy turning her destroyed car into "The Lazy-Boy From Hell." Another long battle occurs between Gyphon and Gina's group but Gina holds the trump card and Gyphon is captured. Peace is made between Stripe and Tyr's people but with a last bit of trickery, Gyphon dupes Gina into activating a doomsday device called Armageddon. Everyone manages to escape but Gina is seperating from the others and magically transported to the middle of a snowfield where she passes out.

ISSUE #3 - 32 pgs - Plans are made to stop Armageddon and find Gina as the rest of the cast breaks into two groups for the task. Ace, Stripe, Garen, Tanis, and Penny go after Arm's power source while Mesha, Tark, Tyr, and Cheetah use Tyr's magical pool to look for Gina. Elsewhere, Gina awakes to find out she hasn't frozen to death, but HAS been stripped naked and has a nude male sleeping with her. The man turns out to be Kahn, sage of the Library of Time, and the one who rescued Gina from a death by freezing. While Gina travels with Kahn to his home in Shangri-La, Ace's group has run into a fight before they could reach Armageddon's power source. Penny's intelligence is the answer to defeating the minions attacking them. Back with Cheetah and Mesha, we finally learn that Cheetah's real name is Britanny and Cheetah is just a superhero name she picked up in high school when playing hero with her friend The Pink Avenger. Gina and Kahn reach Shangri-La and she is quick to check out just what the library has to offer. The bad news is that she discovers Gyphon had been a previous visitor there also. Ace's group finally approaches Arm's power source as he fills Stripe in on the rivalry between Penny and Gina. All of them are nearly flung into a giant blast furnace before Tyr can retrieve them from the pool. Shortly before Tyr had found Gina, but since Gina was busy putting the moves on Kahn, it was decided not to interrupt her just then. While Kahn goes to make sure the library is closed for his tryst with Gina, the long missing Empress Lynn returns from the Astral Rifts that Gyphon had blasted her into 4 years before. She strips and sneaks into Kahn's bed only to discover a nude Gina already there. She demands Gina fight her in a duel for Kahn. She wins Gina's trivia challenge with the help of Subtracto and is about to beat up Gina before Cheetah steps in to save her big sister. As if things weren't grim enough with the threat of Armageddon, the group recieves a magical message from the believed-dead Gyphon. He had been absorbed, not destroyed, by Armageddon. Tyr is told she has one day to surrender or Atlantis will be destroyed.

ISSUE #4 - 32 pgs - Having only a single day to defeat Armageddon, Gina returns home with Cheetah and Stripe to look through the books borrowed from Shangri-La for a way to stop him. Cheetah is quick to put some moves on Stripe but is interupted by Gina's laughing. This causes Cheetah to react quite angerily by showing us her full-cheetah form for the first time. Stripe takes a break to try and deal with what he's seen and runs into Dr. Diggers. Theo helps ease Stripe's worries about his relationship with Britanny, which surprises Brit because it means he likes Stripe. Gina's research pays off when she discovers that she will need some hindrium to defeat Armageddon. She locates where it can be found and takes off with Stripe and Britanny, Ace flying as usual, to the middle of the Red Sea. Along the way there, Dark Bird returns to tussle with Ace. Gina and company reach the gateway to where they can find hindrium but are attacked by a mated pair of werewolfs, Jetta & Thabian on the other side. The battle cover many pages with Gina, Britanny, and Stripe all nearly killed before Gina can get a lucky shot with a silver bullet that knicks Jetta's leg. Brit is quite upset to see the new ammo Gina is packing but gives the gun to Stripe to use since his reflexes are the best of the three. With the lull in the battle as Thabian takes care of his mate's injury, Gina discovers the reason the werewolves were so zealous in their protection of the area. Gina had stumbled across the Garden of Eden. Though she knew it would make her the most famous archaeologist in the world if she reported the find, she also knew that someone would sooner or later exploit it so she couldn't tell anyone. Stripe gathered up the hindrium as Penny commed Gina to report that Armageddon had begun his final attack on Atlantis. Gina lightgated her juryrigged device through to Armageddon and was successful in saving the day.
